haundesign was the lead architect for a historic rehabilitation and seismic upgrade of one of the few Richard Neutra designed projects in San Francisco. haundesign also designed a monumental core ten helical stair - rooting the Neutra design to the site’s botanic gardens descending Telegraph Hill.

haundesign designed a monumental core ten helical stair - rooting the Neutra design to the site’s botanic gardens below.
In the seismic strengthening work, an old brick retaining wall - believed to be original to the Neutra design required removal. It was replaced by a new undulating brick living plant wall as a visual continuation of the helical stair, and Neutra original brick retaining walls below.
